Ten graduates were honored during a recent pinning ceremony for SCC’s Emergency Medical Science.

The next generation of front-line emergency medical responders was honored during a pinning ceremony on May 4 at Southwestern Community College’s Jackson Campus.

Eight graduates of SCC’s Emergency Medical Science program received their pins and recognized their preceptors during the event.

Graduates are eligible to take state and/or national certification exams. Upon passing those, graduates can seek employment opportunities with providers of emergency medical services, fire departments, rescue agencies, hospital specialty areas, industry, education and governmental agencies.

“This has been an outstanding group of students, and we have no doubt they will provide exceptional care each time they are called to an emergency,” said Eric Hester, coordinator of Southwestern’s EMS program. “Our classroom and clinical experiences are extremely challenging, so each of these graduates have been prepared for whatever they might face in the field. Every one of them is to be commended for persevering through two demanding years at SCC.”
