Sixteen Southwestern Community College students recently received supplemental grant aid scholarships through the student support services department.

The scholarships help students achieve their goal of graduating from SCC and, when appropriate, transfer to a university. Each student received a $750 scholarship that will be used to supplement tuition, fees, transportation costs as well as necessary school supplies.

Half the money is received in the fall while the second installment comes during the spring semester.

“It is our hope the scholarship dollars will lighten the financial burden students incur while attending SCC, making their education journey a bit less stressful and their goal of graduation achievable,” said Cheryl Contino-Conner, executive director of student success at SCC. “We have solid data telling us that money worries are a huge factor in student persistence.”
