Here's a brief Q&A with Terrisa, who was honored for the week of Feb. 16:

Q) What motivates you to continue and excel at SCC in spite of circumstances you may face?
A) What motivates you to continue and excel at SCC in spite of circumstances you may face? I think what motivates me the most is my husband and kids. I know that God has a plan for my life and so far it seems like although I have had some set backs it always seems to work out. I had been a stay at home mom for years then in 2010 my husband had a massive heart attack so I knew I needed to further my education. And now that my kids are 16 and 18 it is all working out for me to commute from Murphy to Sylva. I had always thought that once my kids were older I would return to school but with my husband getting sick it made me more motivated and determined to go back sooner. I want my family to be proud of me for what I will accomplish here at SCC.

Q) What advice would you give to future students who might face similar situations?
A) What advice would you give to future students who might face similar situations? My advice would be not to ever give up no matter how rough the storm may seem. There is always hope and to have faith and trust in the Lord and in yourself. My family has been a great support and everyone in the OTA program is good to help one another. Would like to thank Mrs. Walls and Mrs. Radley for all their support and encouragement.
