Individualized Career Counseling:
A counselor is available to talk with students about individual educational/career plans. Please call for an appointment to talk with a trained professional about your career concerns.

Assessment Inventories
The Self-Directed Search, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and Strong Interest Inventory help you identify interests, values, and personal qualities. Inventory results are discussed confidentially with a counselor.

Career Center
Resources are available in the Career Center for resume development, interview preparation, and job/college major research. Students are encouraged to use these valuable resources.

Library

Hours
8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday

Library/ID Cards
The SCC Library card is also a Student ID card. We will need to scan the barcode on the library card at each checkout; therefore, it is important to carry this card with you, both for identification and for library research transactions.

Finding Research Sources
To search for books, use the WebCat Library Catalog, available anywhere, any time on www.southwesterncc.edu/library WebCat shows our book and audiovisual collections. Articles and other research sources are available through NCLIVE, also linked on the library home page. Contact a librarian for help or to request a password.

Number of Checkouts
SCC students are allowed to check out 8 books and/or magazines at a time. Any resident of our service area may use the Library and are allowed to check out 4 items at a time.

Overdue Fines
We charge ten cents per item, per day.

Renewals
Books are checked out for 2 weeks and may be renewed for another 2 weeks. Magazines circulate for 7 days. Staff can show you how to renew your own materials online from home, so you can avoid overdue fines.

Photocopies
A self-service copy machine with a changer is located along the back wall of the Library. Copies cost 10 cents per page. The changer will accept small bills as well as quarters, dimes, and nickels.

*   Peer tutoring sponsored by Student Support Services
*   Study carrels for individual and small group study sessions
*   16 computers with MS Office and specialized skills review software.
*   Workshops on test-taking strategies, time management, Internet basics, stress reduction, and study skills

Student Support Services

General Information:  Student Support Services (SSS) is a Title IV Grant Sponsored through the US Department of Education. The current grant funds SCC over 1 million dollars to assist students who have need for academic assistance who are also first generation college, income eligible or have a documented disability. All objectives within the grant are geared towards increasing student graduation, retention and transfer efforts.
