Where do I find the Time? Have you ever wished you had more time in the day to get everything done? Unfortunately, we only have 168 hours a week to accomplish everything that needs to be done. Here's a tip for you and it's absolutely free --- Drop by the Admissions office for your student handbook and planner! This will help you keep track of appointments, gives you the college's academic calendar, helps you remember important deadlines such as financial aid and registration dates, and provides a way for you to prioritize daily tasks.
It was due when? Pay attention to all deadlines like drop/add, withdrawal dates, early registration, and due dates for papers and exams. If you have to miss a class, contact a classmate or speak to the instructor to get missed notes and assignments. SCC's website is also a comprehensive source of all current information from college-wide events to financial aid deadlines and everything else you need to know.
Grades - SCC wants you to be successful but occasionally your academic progress may slip. The student who is seeking a degree, diploma or certificate needs to maintain a 2.0 grade point average. There are several important points to remember:
Access your grades online within a few days after the semester ends.
If you're having academic difficulty, talk to your instructor.
Go to the Learning Assistance Center for assistance.
Talk with your advisor.
Another 8 O'clock Class? If you want the schedule of your dreams, register early, and pay for your classes by the deadline. If you do that, you'll be able to choose your classes, your instructors and be guaranteed that most of your classes will be open. Look for registration dates and deadlines in the catalog, handbook and on the website.
Get Involved at SCC - SCC holds student activities, sponsors clubs and organizations, as well as put on events such as Spring Fling, concerts, and education activities. There are also special interest clubs that include anything from advertising and graphic design club to Native American Society and Honor Societies.

What are my starting points in College English and Math ? The placement test assesses your proficiency in math and English so that you can be placed in to appropriate level of study. Due to insufficient scores, many applicants are expected to successfully complete a developmental course(s) before they can enroll in the English and math courses required for graduation from their particular program of study. A score report will be printed for you when you complete the placement test and an Enrollment Counselor will meet with you for score interpretation.. The counselor will then refer you to your academic advisor for placement into the courses designed on the score report. See the college catalog for further explanation regarding SAT and ACT scores that will waiver your taking the test.
Do I want a degree, diploma or certificate? SCC offers over 60 academic programs of study. The associate degree is intended to be a two year program or 64-76 semester credit hours leading to the Associate of Arts or Associate of Applied Science degree. The diploma is awarded after successful completion of 36-48 semester hours credit in an approved diploma-granting program. A certificate is awarded after successful completion of 12-18 semester hours credit in a certificate-granting program.
