Ms. Dowdle received
a Bachelors of Arts from the Honors
College at Western Carolina University.
She was a double major in Spanish
and Philosophy with a minor in International
Studies. Ms. Dowdle was recently
employed as a Spanish Translator
by South Macon Elementary School
in Franklin, North Carolina. Prior
to taking this position, she was
employed as a Media Specialist with
the International Friendship Center
in Highlands, North Carolina. While
a student at Western Carolina University,
she maintained two part-time positions:
Resident Assistant and International
Student Peer Advisor. Ms. Dowdle
was a New Century Scholars student
and also participated in the first
GEAR UP grant. We are proud to say
she is our first GEAR UP alumni
to return as a GEAR UP leader. |

MOOG Components in Murphy, NC. He
active duty in the United States
Marine Corps for seven years and
as a Marine Corps Reservist for
an additional 14 years until his
retirement in December of 1992. |

underground utilities installer,

employed as a job superintendent
and safety representative by H&M
Constructors, an extruder by Belden
Wire & Cable, and a journeyman
carpenter, mason, painter, and crew
leader by BE&K Construction. |

Ms. Farmer has been previously by

Schools as a Science Teacher for
Jackson County School of Alternatives.
Ms. Farmer has five years of full-time
experience as an Academic Advisor
at the WCU Advising Center. Prior
to the Advising Center, Ms. Farmer
was a part-time Biology Instructor
for four years at Western Carolina
University. Ms. Farmer was also
employed by SCC from 1989-1993 in
the position of Director/ Medical
Laboratory Technology Instructor. |
