Ms. Dowdle received a Bachelors of Arts from the Honors College at Western Carolina University. She was a double major in Spanish and Philosophy with a minor in International Studies. Ms. Dowdle was recently employed as a Spanish Translator by South Macon Elementary School in Franklin, North Carolina. Prior to taking this position, she was employed as a Media Specialist with the International Friendship Center in Highlands, North Carolina. While a student at Western Carolina University, she maintained two part-time positions: Resident Assistant and International Student Peer Advisor. Ms. Dowdle was a New Century Scholars student and also participated in the first GEAR UP grant. We are proud to say she is our first GEAR UP alumni to return as a GEAR UP leader.

  Dianna Gilbert, College Information Center Coordinator Ms. Gilbert received a bachelor's degree in geography from the University of Arizona. She was previously employed as an office manager by Barnes Wellness Center, a training analyst by Empire Blue Cross, and an office manager by Environmental Resources Management. She was also employed as a receptionist by Weight Watchers.

Ms. McCully received a Bachelors degree in Music Education and a Masters degree in Music Education from Ithaca College in New York. Ms. McCully was employed as a Choral Director by Ridgeview High School in Columbia, South Carolina. She was previously employed as a Choral Music Teacher by Columbia High School in Columbia, South Carolina and a High School Choral and Music Teacher by Sullivan West Central School District in Lake Huntington, New York.

Mr. Dockery received an Associate of Arts degree from Tri-County Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Carolina University. Mr. Dockery was most recently employed as a Youth Case Manager by Southwestern Planning Commission. He was previously employed as a Director of Evening and Special Events, Job Placement Officer, and Human Resource Development Instructor by Tri-County Community College and a Security Guard at MOOG Components in Murphy, NC. He active duty in the United States Marine Corps for seven years and as a Marine Corps Reservist for an additional 14 years until his retirement in December of 1992.

  Jeanette White Ms. White received an associate's degree from Florida Community College at Jacksonville and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering at University of North Florida. Ms. White was employed as an engineering associate by M. Anderson Engineering, P.A. She was previously employed as an engineering associate by Cavanaugh and Associates, P.A. While enrolled at University of North Florida, Ms. White also worked as an engineering intern by Taylor Engineering, P.A. and as a teaching assistant by University of North Florida.
     
Robert Price, Automotive Systems Technology Instructor - Franklin High School, start 8/12/08.
  Bobby Price Mr. Price received a certificate in electrical technology from Southwestern Community College. Mr. Price was most recently employed as a part-time automotive systems technology instructor by Southwestern Community College. Mr. Price has also served on the Automotive Systems Technology Advisory Council since 1988. In addition, Mr. Price was the owner of Supri Auto Service. He was also employed as a service manager by Anderson Auto Center and a line technician by P&M Automotive.
     
Diania McRae, Accounting Instructor/Program Coordinator, start 8/12/08
  Diania McRae, Accounting Ms. McRae received an associate of arts degree from Tri-County Community College and an associate of applied science degree in paralegal studies from Southwestern Community College. Ms. McRae also received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in accounting from Western Carolina University. Ms. McRae was most recently employed as an adjunct accounting instructor by Tri-County Community College, Graham County Center. In addition, she was previously employed as an accounting manager by Cheoah Construction Company, Inc, a tax collector by Graham County, and a stockroom manager/expediter by Dale Electronics.
     
Arnold Brooks, Carpentry Instructor - Swain High School, start 8/12/08.
  Arnold Brooks Mr. Brooks received his high school diploma from Sylva-Webster High School. He has also taken continuing education classes at Southwestern Community College. Mr. Brooks was most recently employed as a commercial underground utilities installer, carpenter, mason, and plumber by Buchanan National, Inc. He was previously employed as a job superintendent and safety representative by H&M Constructors, an extruder by Belden Wire & Cable, and a journeyman carpenter, mason, painter, and crew leader by BE&K Construction.
     
Camille Tuttrup, GEAR UP College Readiness Coach - Macon, start 8/12/08.
  Camillie Tuttrup Ms. Tuttrup possesses a B.S. in Art Education from Western Carolina University. Ms. Tuttrup has been working with the GEAR UP program in Macon county on a part-time basis since Fall of 2007.
     
Kathlyn Johnson Farmer, GEAR UP College Readiness Coach - Jackson, start 8/12/08.
  Kathy Johnson Farmer Ms. Farmer possesses a Bachelors in Biology and a M.A.Ed. in Curriculum Instruction/ Biology from Western Carolina University. Ms. Farmer has been previously by the college in various capacities with the GEAR UP program. She was also employed by Jackson County Schools as a Science Teacher for Jackson County School of Alternatives. Ms. Farmer has five years of full-time experience as an Academic Advisor at the WCU Advising Center. Prior to the Advising Center, Ms. Farmer was a part-time Biology Instructor for four years at Western Carolina University. Ms. Farmer was also employed by SCC from 1989-1993 in the position of Director/ Medical Laboratory Technology Instructor.
     
Pamela Judson, College Access Liaison/New Century Scholars Coordinator, start 8/1/08.
  Pamela Judson Ms. Judson received a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and a master's degree from Indiana University. Ms. Judson was previously employed by the college as a full-time Upward Bound Academic Advisor and as a part-time Concurrent Enrollment Specialist.
     
Guy Hall, Cleaning Technician, start 8/1/08
  Guy Hall Mr. Hall received an associate's degree in business administration from Southwestern Community College. Mr. Hall was most recently employed as a press operator by Consolidated Metco. He was previously employed as a grinder operator and a fork truck operator by Dayco Corporation.
     
Andrea Woolum, College Access Liaison – Jackson County, start 8/1/08
  Andrea Woolum Ms. Woolum received a bachelor's degree in psychology and Spanish from University of South Carolina. Ms. Woolum is currently employed by Stone Ridge Tavern. She was previously employed as the director of career services and as the job placement coordinator by Chaminade University of Honolulu. She was also employed as an account staffer by Carolina Personnel Services, Inc. and a bookseller by Barnes and Noble Booksellers.

Ms. Benson received a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in educational leadership/two-year college administration from Western Carolina University. Ms. Benson was employed as a project manager and administrative director by Rice Communications. She was previously employed as a manager by Sugar Bowl Resort, an assessment specialist by Chattahoochee Technical College, and a records coordinator by Kennesaw State University. While enrolled at Western Carolina University, Ms. Benson also worked as a graduate assistant.

Ms. Amster received a bachelor's degree from Western Carolina University in biology. She is also a graduate of the respiratory therapy program at Southwestern Community College. Ms. Amster was most recently employed as a respiratory therapist by Westcare Health Systems. She was previously employed as a part-time instructor by Southwestern Community College.
