Southwestern Community College - Policies and Procedures Manual
Procedure Title: Keys 3.19.1
Responsible Division: Administrative Services  
Date Approved: October 1992  
 
1. College personnel are furnished the keys necessary for security of college property, efficiency of college operations, and to meet legitimate needs of college personnel. No unnecessary keys are to be issued. No duplicate keys for college will be made without the approval of the Vice President for Administrative Services.
2. A key inventory for all doors (not desks and file cabinets) is maintained by the Physical Plant Manager.
3. All college personnel must submit requests in writing through the appropriate Vice President. Upon approval, the Vice President for Administrative Services will issue all keys and maintain a complete inventory.
4. It is imperative that no exchanges of keys or duplicates be made without prior approval.
5. When an employee is leaving college employment, all keys must be turned in to complete the exit procedure.
