| 1. |
It
is the policy of Southwestern Community College
to comply with the tenants of the Americans
with Disabilities Act of 1990. The ADA requires
that all public entities, including all public
colleges and universities, conduct an ADA
Audit of every activity, program or service
of the institution. |
| 2. |
To
achieve compliance, Southwestern Community
College will:
| a. |
Engage
in a self-evaluation (audit). |
| b. |
Provide
notices concerning the ADA. |
| c. |
Designate
a responsible employee to coordinate
ADA compliance. |
| d. |
Ensure
that existing facilities are readily
accessible to or usable by individuals
with disabilities through structural
changes in facilities or through other
methods that are equally effective,
to make services, programs, and activities
accessible. |
| e. |
Eliminate
eligibility criteria that screens out
or tends to screen out individuals with
disabilities or any class of individuals
with disabilities from fully and equally
enjoying any service, program, or activity
being offered. |
| f. |
Administer
services, programs, and activities in
the most integrated setting appropriate
to the needs of qualified individuals
with disabilities. |
| g. |
Take
appropriate steps to ensure that communications
with persons who are disabled are as
effective as communications with others,
including the furnishing of appropriate
auxiliary aids and services. |

| 3. |
Southwestern
Community College will maintain the self-evaluation
and make it available to the public for three
years. |
| 4. |
ADA
grievances will be addressed through existing
employee and grievance procedures found in
the Southwestern Community College Policies
and Procedures Manual (4.23.1). |
