Date Approved: July 1994

1. Southwestern Community College is committed to the philosophy that no eligible student be denied access to higher education due to a lack of financial resources.
2. Financial aid is awarded on the basis of need. In determining the student's need, it is assumed that the student will help himself through summer and part-time employment, and that the family will provide assistance in an amount proportionate to its income and assets.
3. In order to receive federal assistance, a student must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, be enrolled in a curriculum, and be making satisfactory progress.
4. Requirements for receiving financial aid and making satisfactory progress are outlined in the catalog and student handbook. Details regarding types of financial assistance are available from the financial aid office.
