Western Regional Crim Justice Planning and Training Program

About Us

The Criminal Justice Regional Coordinating Centers (CJRCC) exist to serve the comprehensive education and training needs of criminal justice personnel in North Carolina. While each community college continues to provide traditional criminal justice training services within its service area, the CJRCC mission is to identify and address the unique needs and levels of education and training not currently being provided. Recognizing that criminal justice personnel constitute a major pool of employees and provide a significant public service, the Criminal Justice Regional Coordinating Centers are committed to the professional development of these groups as an integral part of enhancing the quality of life for all citizens.

The Criminal Justice Regional Planning and Training Program is committed to providing state-of-the-art training, has the ability and the competence to meet advanced training needs, and has established an open, viable communications system that enables the program to effectively function throughout North Carolina. The planning, research and development of each course offered through the program is focused on criminal justice professionals in North Carolina.

Criminal justice personnel are a significant segment of the state's workforce whose professional development and successes are crucial to the economic and quality-of-life issues of the state. The Criminal Justice Regional Planning and Training Program proactively supports the mission of the State Board of Community Colleges and professional development of criminal justice personnel in North Carolina.

Goals:
to provide advanced criminal justice education and training opportunities
to respond to unique education and training needs not currently being addressed, including mandated training when the demand of the region is not being met
to serve as an information center concerning innovations and changes in education and training
to establish cooperative planning and coordination of training with other agencies, colleges and regional coordinating centers to facilitate more efficient utilization of education and training resources
to disseminate advanced law enforcement education and training information
to develop advanced instructional resources through tailored train-the-trainer programs
to function as a model state-of-the-art program in advanced education and training.
