Dedication to Farrell D. Jamison

Farrell Jamison

This year the Macon County Firefighters Association dedicates the 22nd Western NC Fire and Rescue College to Farrell D. Jamison.

Farrell began his career in the public safety field, 1963, as a junior member of the Macon County Rescue Squad. After finishing high school and a year in college, he joined the US Army where he served for three years working mainly in Military Intelligence. After his honorable discharge he returned to college obtaining a BS in Business Management/Criminal Law and a MS in Two-Year Community College Administration. During this time and for several years later he served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Macon County Sheriffs office.

In 1985 he was certified as a Level III Firefighter and Fire Training Instructor, one of the first in Macon County. He holds many specialty certifications: Certified State Fire/Arson Investigator, Hazard Materials Technician, National Fire Academy Adjunct Instructor, Bomb Search Techniques/Management, and Criminal Justice General Instructor.

Farrell was a member of Franklin Fire and Rescue Department from 1977-2009, serving as Assistant Chief, Safety Officer and Training Officer for many years. He has worked with Southwestern Community College since 1985, teaching, managing the Regional Fire and Rescue Training Center, designing and scheduling training and assisting area Fire and Rescue departments with training needs.

Farrell also serves as the Chief Investigator for the Macon County Fire/Arson Task Force. Farrell has given years of service to the Fire and Rescue field. He is known and respected throughout the southeast as a true professional and friend to many.

It is with great appreciation that the Macon County Firefighters Association dedicates and honors this year’s College to Farrell D. Jamison.

Thanks Farrell.
