This course
will present a series
of four classes needed
to function as a wildland
firefighter.
The classes are the
National Wildland Fire
Suppression classes:
S-130 Basic Wildland
Firefighter
S-190 Introduction
to Fire Behavior
L-180 Human
Factors on the Fireline
I-100 Introduction
to Incident Command
System.
These courses provide
instruction in the primary
environmental factors
that affect the start
and spread of wildfires
and recognition of potentially
hazardous situations.
Also, human factors
on the fireline and
basic incident command
structure will be discussed.

To perform as an entry-level
wildland firefighter,
you will need to pass
a physical fitness test
offered by your employer.
A typical test is a
three-mile hike, carrying
a 45-lb. pack. This
test must be completed
in less than 45 minutes.
