Basic Radar Certification Training: A 40-hour certification course for officers seeking certification to operate RADAR in NC. Must be employed or an appointed law enforcement officer by a state or local agency or be a federal law enforcement officer, BLET certified. Deputies must be in compliance with the Sheriffs’ Standards Commission. Student and/or agency must provide approved RADAR (s) for practice and testing, patrol vehicle and current RADAR training Manual.
• SCC, PSTC 11/5-11/11 WThFMT 8A-5P $65

A 40-hour certification course for Officers seeking certification to operate RADAR in North Carolina. Must be employed as law enforcement officer by a state or local agency or be a federal law enforcement officer. Deputies must be in compliance with the Sheriffs’ Standards Commission. Student and/or agency must provide an approved RADAR(s) for practice and testing, patrol vehicle and current RADAR training manual.

1. Course Orientation
2. Introduction to RADAR Training
3. Speed Offenses and Speed Enforcement
4. Basic Principles of RADAR Speed Measurement
5. Legal and Operational Considerations
6. Familiarization and Operation of Specific RADAR Instruments
7. Courtroom Preparation
8. Motor-Skill Performance Testing
9. Course Review and Written Examination
   
Student and/or Agency must provide items listed below:
* Vehicle equipped with Radar/s for Practice and Testing, which the trainee is seeking certification
* Current RADAR Training Manual
* Current Supplement Manual for Speed Measuring Instrument Training Course (Appendix A, B, C, D)

Must be currently certified or certification has not been expired more than one year. Must be employed or a appointed law enforcement officer by a state or local agency or be a federal law enforcement officer, BLET certified. Deputies must be in compliance with the Sheriffs’ Standards Commission. Student must provide approved RADAR (s) for practice and testing, patrol vehicle, and current RADAR training manual.
• SCC, PSTC 11/4-11/11 T 8A-5P $55

Due to time limitation in re-certification officers will need to review all materials and practice RADAR operations prior to attending this course.
