When is commencement?
|

The ceremony
will be held on Thursday,
July 31, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.
|
What do I wear for commencement? |
· |
All graduates must wear
the SCC blue gown to march. A complete
kit of cap, gown, and tassel is
available in the bookstore (3rd
floor, Balsam center) for about
$42. Other than the blue gown, there
are no specific requirements for
shoes or dress. |
What honor cords and stoles can I wear? |
· |
Only
academic regalia pertaining to honor
societies (Phi Theta Kappa - Bob Clark,
ext. 233; , National Technical Honor
Society - Ron Poor, ext. 214) may be
worn. No souvenir stoles or cords will
be permitted for use during the ceremony.

What side should the tassel be on? |
|
· |
The tassel should hang
on the right. During the ceremony, you
will be instructed to move your tassel
to the left side to show you have graduated. |
Are there commencement invitations? |
· |
Yes. These announcements
can be sent to your family and friends,
and they can be purchased in the bookstore.
The complete graduation kit does not
include the announcements. |
How many people can I invite to graduation? |
· |
As many as you would
like. No tickets will be required of
your guests to watch you graduate. |
When is commencement rehearsal? |

Graduation rehearsal
will be held on Wednesday,
July 30, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.
Check in at the Balsam Lobby and
if you will graduate with honors
(based on your cumulative GPA
as of spring 2008), you can pick
up your honor cord. Consult your
catalog for details
on honors distinctions (page
27 in the 2007-2008 catalog). |
Can my family/friends take photos at
commencement? |

Yes, but please be mindful
of others when proceeding down front
to take these photos. |
Other things to remember… |
· |
Please do not chew gum. |
· |
You will line up with
whomever you would like, not in alphabetical
order. |
· |
Information about
the photographer will be available
closer to graduation time.
