Southwestern
Community College has been in continuous operation since
it first began offering classes over forty years ago.
A history of the institution is included in the annual
college Fact Book (1).
The college offers 47 programs which lead to associate
degrees (Associate in Arts and Associate in Applied Sciences).
Unduplicated curriculum headcount for the most recent
academic year (2004-05) was 2,703. This includes enrollment
in degree, diploma and certificate programs. The number
of students enrolled in degree programs
for the 2004-05 academic year was 1,860 (2).
During the most recent academic year (2004-05), Southwestern
awarded 256 associate degrees (3).
As
a member of the North Carolina Community College System
(4), Southwestern
submits enrollment and other related course and student
information on a regular basis. This data is reflected
in the 2003-04 Annual Statistical Report as
listed on the North Carolina Community College System
web site (5).
In addition, the System Office conducts an annual audit
of the college’s academic offerings, including
class rosters.
