Southwestern
Community College is committed to quality programs that
prepare students for employment or transfer to four-year
institutions. The College offers 47 associate degree,
14 diploma, and 28 certificate programs (1).
The North Carolina Community College System provides curriculum
standards that specify a minimum of 64 semester credit
hours for each associate degree program offered by community
colleges (2).
These standards are based upon North Carolina Administrative
Code requirements that Associate of Applied Science, Associate
of Arts, and Associate of Science programs are based upon
a minimum of 64 semester credit hours (3).
All 47 associate degree programs offered by the College
require at least 64 semester credit hours for completion
(4, 5).
Programs and courses are subject to College Curriculum
and Instruction Committee review and NC State Board of
Community College approval. The College does not offer
degrees at the baccalaureate, post-baccalaureate, graduate,
or professional level.
