Narrative:

The Southwestern Community College Board of Trustees is responsible for the selection and the evaluation of the president. North Carolina General Statute 115D-20 authorizes the local board to select a president subject to approval of the state Board of Community Colleges (1). The North Carolina Administrative Code specifies that the president must be approved by the state board (2). Article IX, Section 1 of the Constitution and Bylaws of the local Board of Trustees requires that the board select the president (3).

The Board of Trustees evaluates the president annually as required by the North Carolina Administrative Code (4). The evaluation is conducted at the spring meeting of the board using a form developed for this purpose (5). College policy and procedure dictate that the Board of Trustees evaluate the president annually (6, 7). The State Board is notified in writing upon completion of the evaluation (8).
