The
College policy concerning intellectual property ownership
is stated in the SCC Policies and Procedures Manual
(1).
This policy defines intellectual property and acknowledges
ownership rights associated with property protected
by copyright, trademark, or patent law.
The
policy provides for other agreements for ownership to
be negotiated and outlines the process for dispute resolution.
The policy acknowledges that in cases where grant funds
have been used to develop intellectual property, the
provisions or terms of the grant will govern. The policy
applies to students, faculty, and staff.
The
Distance Learning Course Development Policy (2)
concerns compensation and ownership issues associated
with this specific form of intellectual property.
