For
each major in a degree program, Southwestern Community
College assigns responsibility for program coordination,
curriculum development, and review to persons qualified
in the field (1).
At least one full-time faculty member or academic administrator
with appropriate credentials has this primary responsibility
in each program of study. The College has a clearly defined
planning process (3)
by which the curricula are reviewed and evaluated. This
process demonstrates that the program coordinator/department
head provides oversight for assessing the quality of the
curriculum for the respective degree programs and ensuring
that the curriculum, as well as the delivery of the curriculum,
is educationally sound.
Academically
qualified personnel are responsible for coordination
of the effort to maintain the integrity of each program’s
educational offerings. The college has in place specific
job descriptions, which includes minimal credentials
required and essential job functions, for each program
coordinator/department head position (4).
