Academic
and personal freedom is considered essential to meeting
Southwestern Community College’s goal of educating
students. The College respects the rights of employees,
as well as their authority and expertise. The College’s
policy on Academic and Personal Freedom is published
in the College Policies and Procedures Manual (1).
The
policy on Academic and Personal Freedom specifies that
the college’s grievance procedures provide a framework
for addressing the concerns of employees who believe
their freedoms have been compromised (2).
Procedures for consideration and determination of employee
problems and grievances are outlined in the College’s
Employment Grievance Policy, also located in the College
Policies and Procedures Manual (3).
