| There
are nine yearly SSS program
objectives at Southwestern
Community College. They are
as follows: |

To identify, document, and
select 150 program eligible
participants within the first
90 days of each program year. |
| 2. |
To conduct an assessment
for each participant in order
to most effectively match
individual needs with resources
available in the College,
community, and SSS. |
| 3. |
To enhance student success
through participation in developmental
courses, study skills classes,
tutoring, counseling, and
workshops, so that 70% of
participants will achieve
a 2.0 or higher grade point
average (GPA). |
| 4. |
To achieve a 70% college
retention rate of participants
through frequent personal,
career, and academic counseling
and advising. |
| 5. |
To have a minimum of 40%
of participants graduate or
transfer by the end of the
third year. |
| 6. |
To achieve a 70% passing
rate in tutored courses through
effective group and individual
instruction conducted by peer
tutors. |
| 7. |
To provide 100% of participants
a wide variety of cultural
and educational enrichment
activities designed to improve
their experiential background
and enhance self-concept and
leadership skills. |
| 8. |
To be effective stewards
of the dollars by meeting
100% of the administrative
requirements. |
| 9. |
To provide institutional
and community advocacy for
low-income, first generation,
and disabled students, for
the purpose of promoting a
campus climate supportive
of at-risk students. |
