Director's Message

Oh my gosh!
Why didn't even one person give me constructive criticism on my May Director’s Message? I just re-read the message and I am not so sure I wrote that. Ok, OK - I am sure I wrote it but I just don’t want to own it. The first paragraph was just a word short of incoherent. What was I possibly thinking? Obviously I was not thinking at all :):)

Having said that - my message for June is short and sweet:
When you see something that is so incredibly awful, please let me know. I will appreciate you for it. I am always open to constructive criticism.

The May message was a blooper. A blooper, I say!

Have a great summer and I am looking forward to some constructive criticism from you.

Cheryl

In this Month's Spotlight: Erik Carlson

Erik CarlsonThis month's spotlight is on 22-year old dapper and debonair Erik Carlson. Erik's first academic goal is to complete his college transfer degree at SCC, which will be followed by his second goal of entering a four-year institution to major in the field of medicine or pharmacy degrees which will keep him studying well into his early 30's!

In his spare time, Erik enjoys reading and writing (he is in the process of writing his first book), as well as acting. When asked who has inspired him so far at SCC, Erik will quickly state, Vianne Payne, the educator who opened the doors of acting to him.

Some of Erik's hobbies and interests include swimming and the challenge of strategic games and puzzles (as you well know if you have had the pleasure of attending a cultural enrichment trip with Erik). If you bump into this budding artist in the hall, be sure to ask him about his recent debut performance in the wonderful production of, "Alone Together."

(This will be a 3-part series)

E is for Expand: In this step, ask three kinds of questions concerning the studied material:

  • If I could speak to the author, what questions would I ask or what criticism would I offer?
  • How could I apply this material to what I am interested in?
  • How could I make this information interesting and understandable to other students?
