Director's Message
Your SSS team has a new addition. Rob Campbell joined us on Monday, February 11 and is quickly becoming acclimated to the SSS mission.

Rob’s official duties will be to serve as the program counselor, intake coordinator and career/technology program co-advisor. I am happy to say that Rob has also agreed to attend the cultural enrichment spelunking trips. If you have not met Rob, stop by soon and say “Hi.”

Spring semester is up and running and as a friendly reminder, your only responsibility in continuing to receive the many valuable services provided by your SSS office is to have 5 contacts per semester with us. Have you seen Marti, Rob or me 5 times this semester? If not, put down this paper and run to your nearest SSS office (now located on the bottom floor of Oaks Hall...of course, if you did not know we had re-located then you really do need to stop by.) We want to know how you are doing! Now is the time to get a tutor should you be experiencing academic difficulties in your classes. Now is the time to see Rob for counseling should life’s many hurdles be interrupting your ability to perform in the classroom. Now is the time to plan college visitations. Now is the time to sign-up for the cultural enrichment programs, workshops and Friday videos that will supplement the wonderful academics provided to you in the classroom. Carpe Diem!!!!!

We are here for you!

In this Month's Spotlight - Andrea Breedlove

Andrea BreedloveAndrea is our "spotlight" for March. A Franklin resident, Andrea completed her Associate in Arts degree this past December. In talking about the time she spent at SCC, Andrea said, "I feel that I have absorbed every wonderful thing I can from all my instructors in our classes." Andrea will graduate summa cum laude, is up for several scholarships and is being recruited by excellent schools.

When asked who inspired her at SCC, Andrea replied, "Too, too many! I could never name just one! But, I have become great friends with Sharon Owen, Cheryl Conner, Chris Cox, Bob Satterwhite, Ken Hollingsworth, Owen Gibby, Terry Tolle, and Allan Grant. I don't know what I would have done without them! They all inspire me and I intend to call on all of them for years to come!"

Andrea was born in Boston, Massachusetts (Go Patriots!) and has lived in many places along the East Coast. She claims she was a "mediocre student" in high school and SCC has helped her "blossom." Andrea attributes this gain in confidence, both socially and intellectually, with her time spent at SCC.
Andrea loves to learn new things and enjoys anything that takes creativity, especially design. Upon transfering to WCU, Andrea plans to take some Interior Design classes. This lovely lady will more than likely go on to accomplish some remarkable things, making everyone at SCC proud - especially those who have taken her under their wings!
