Director's Message
Twenty days and counting. I hope you are rested, rejuvenated and ready to learn, learn, learn!!! I am going to use this column to offer you a few general reminders that will assist you in getting off to a great start at SCC.
New Student Orientation Day is Friday, August 10. If you are a new student at SCC, we look forward to seeing you on this day. Be prepared for a dynamite presentation. Registration Days for fall semester are Thursday, August 16 and Friday, August 17. If you have not already registered, these days are VERY IMPORTANT to you! No appointments are necessary and the offices will be open until 7:00 PM for your registration convenience. Fall semester 2001 officially begins on Monday, August 20 and then you will have five (5) class days to make changes in your schedule (we call this our drop/add period.) This will be a very busy time for us... and you. I suggest getting to SCC the first few days 15-20 minutes before your first class begins so you have plenty of time to find your class, meet a classmate and settle in before the teaching and learning begins. AND, "Yes, it is true," sometimes classes will be moved to different locations. So, be sure and ask someone if you are in the right class. We have all entered a wrong room during our education. The smartest thing we can do is ask someone if we are where we need to be.
Nervous? I know I sure was my first week at college. I must have asked 100 questions the first two days; and I don't believe anyone could have convinced me that everyone else felt just like I did. If you have any questions, need assistance with any part of this new, exciting and rewarding experience, please ask us. If we don't have the answers, guess what? . . . we'll ask someone who will.
Welcome to SCC. We are so glad you are here!
Cheryl
