Director's Message
I hope you had a restful Christmas break, spent lots of time with your families and had your fill of the holiday spirit. It seems a bit strange that Christmas break happens two weeks before SPRING semester begins . . sure doesn't feel like spring these days, but here we are starting off the spring semester.
Your Student Support Services office has a new home! We are now located on the bottom floor of Oaks Hall (same building, new level) and have a wonderful luxury suite to better serve you. Come check out the new student area filled with valuable resources to assist you in your personal and academic endeavors. We are diligently searing for your new SSS counselor. Our search has taken a bit longer than expected but we are committed to selecting only the best person for you. I think you will be pleased.
We have a wonderful line of enrichment programs for you this semester. . I think I hear the ocean?!?!? And, once again we will be teaming up with the learning assistance center to bring you a wide variety of informative workshops.
As always, we are only successful if you are successful. Stop by frequently and let us know how things are going. Can we assist you? We think so!
Welcome back!
Cheryl

Study Tips - Keys for Success
Make It a Habit: Work Every Day
Avoid all-night cram sessions in which you (unsuccessfully) try to understand and retain large amounts of information.
Spend time on your studies each day, and you can stay on top of your courses and still have time for fun.
Use small blocks of time - you'll be amazed what you can get done between classes!

Important Reminder:
Financial Aid Applications
FREE applications for student aid (FAFSA) can be picked up at the SSS office or at SCC's Financial Aid office. Don't forget you can now file your FAFSA on the WEB. www.fafsa.ed.gov
