| Director's Message It is so nice to see all of you! I hope your first few days at SCC have been a rewarding experience. So far so good . . . right? As you settle into your semester, I want you to give A LOT of thought to the students you have connected with at SCC. If you have plans of making all “A’s” this semester, be sure you are hanging out with other students who share this goal. If your goal is to make all “C’s” this semester, then hang out with other “C” students. And, (this must be said) if any of you are here on the “social only “ plan, then you know who you are hanging out with...we will miss you when the party ends! I firmly believe school can be both academically challenging and social. We will supply MANY cultural enrichment programs for you (free) which will give you some time to play with your peers. In the meantime, you do your part - attend class regularly; talk with your instructors before and after class...get to know them and more importantly, give them the opportunity to get to know YOU. Your education is important. Give it the respect it deserves. And remember, in the dictionary is the only place you will find “success” coming before “work.” I wish you all the best in your academic endeavors. Please let me know if I, Marti, Tonya or Laurie can assist you. Cheryl Study Tips - Keys for Success Part 9-- Procrastination Series: Instead: I don't have to do this all by myslef. Currently, John is working on his College Transfer degree at SCC. His goal is to transfer to WCU where he plans to earn his Bachelor's Degree and then continue working towards his Masters Degree. John's hobies and interests include: golf, hiking, photography, swimming, hacky-sack, traveling and school. Tim Quiring, instructor in the Human Services Technology program, has been an inspiration to John. Tim has helped John understand and embrace the human condition. Sarah Altman, Human Services' Instructor, has also inspired John with her understanding and patience. The next time you see John, ask him if he has any extra M&M's. John eats more M&M's than anyone he knows!
