Tutoring
|
| A tutor is defined as a person responsible
for the instruction and guidance
of another (a tutee). Tutoring is
generally a one-on-one teaching
relationship between a tutor and
tutee, with the most immediate goal
of providing needed explanation
of skills and application in regard
to specific subject matter. Tutors
employed by SSS to provide you with
academic instruction include current
or former SCC students, part-time
SCC instructors, and other qualified
community citizens who demonstrate
the required understanding and ability
to teach. They are carefully screened
and trained to meet your academic
needs with integrity in regard to
appropriate instruction methods
and behavior. All tutors are certified
through the CRLA (College Reading
and Learning Association), an internationally
certified tutoring program.
SSS participants desiring tutoring
services meet with Laurie Butler,
our SSS tutoring program coordinator.
Working with your schedule and
determined level of need for academic
assistance, Laurie matches you
with the appropriate tutor and
tutoring schedule.
