Automotive student with a tire As the calendar flips to a new year, 2021 brings with it a lot of hope - but also many questions. If you’re wondering about when the vaccine will be available, we want you to know:
  • Availability is determined by your county of residence (not the county where you work).
  • For Jackson County residents only: You can now fill out this survey. Based on your responses to the survey, you will be assigned a tier group for vaccination. (Please be patient as there may be delays due to high demand)
  • For Macon County residents only: You can now register online to get vaccinated. (Please be patient as there may be delays due to high demand)
  • If you don't reside in Jackson or Macon Counties, please check with your primary care physician or local health department (our service area health departments are listed below and linked to their respective websites):

As we resume on-campus operations, please remember to:
  • Self-assess on the SCC Alert app each morning before leaving home.
  • Keep a safe physical distance of six feet or more between yourself and others.
  • Wear a mask when indoors or when unable to social distance outdoors.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
If any COVID-19 questions or concerns arise throughout this semester, please feel free to contact our COVID-19 Response Team committee chair Lisa Sizemore (l_sizemore[at]southwesterncc[dot]edu or 828.339.4280) or Megan Nicholson, our Emergency Services/Safety Coordinator (m_nicholson[at]southwesterncc[dot]edu or 828.339.4621).

Check your SCC email daily for communication regarding adjustments to course modality and online expectations. Help us spread the word by telling your classmates about these changes.

SCC expects students to have laptop or computer equipment, including a webcam and microphone, adequate for accessing internet content:
  • Identify areas to access internet service at home, work or public places. You may also access the internet in SCC buildings and parking lots.
  • Check for additional computer requirements in programs of study with specific computing demands.
  • Consider purchasing a computer from the SCC bookstore using your financial aid award.
  • Inquire about the laptop loan program at the SCC Library.
Practice using MySCC, college Gmail, and Moodle so that you are prepared to use these online technologies. Here are some resources for you to review: Prepare for the possibility of a transition to full-distance format during the semester in the event of a campus closure.
You are required to wear face coverings at SCC campuses and events. While you are encouraged to wear your own face covering, SCC will have masks on hand for student usage.
