They represent a wide range of programs and hail from all over Western North Carolina, but the 35 Southwestern Community College students who were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society on April 28 have several key attributes in common.
They all hold at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average, were nominated by a teaching faculty member and rank among the top 20 percent of active students in their respective programs.
“Only two percent of our students are being inducted into this prestigious organization,” said Dr. Thom Brooks, SCC’s vice president for instruction and student services. He’s also Southwestern’s NTHS faculty advisor. “Every one of them should feel extremely proud to have earned this honor.
“NTHS recognizes outstanding student achievement in career and technical education,” Brooks added. “It encourages higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence and helps students find success in the workplace.”
