Blindness robbed Clayton Ammons' ability to see colors or just about anything, but it  hasn’t robbed him of his enthusiasm for life – and he was as excited as anyone about the opportunity to experience the region’s first total solar eclipse in more than 500 years.
On Sept. 6, the Franklin Rotary Club donated $5,000 to the SCC Foundation’s Student Success Campaign. On Aug. 21, the day of the Great American Eclipse, 50 high-altitude weather balloon teams from across the country will launch their payloads into the air to capture live images and video from the edge of space that will go straight to NASA’s website.
