J. Vance Davidson

Vice-Chairman, Board of Trustees
The Jackson County commissioners appointed J. Vance Davidson to the SCC Board of Trustees in June 2010. Vance Davidson also serves on the board of directors for the SCC Foundation. Davidson’s prior professional career included twenty-nine years as a trust banker and lawyer. He was involved with asset management and estate and tax planning and administration for affluent families and corporations. Additionally, he was engaged in administration and investment management for numerous foundations and not for profit organizations. He previously served for 11 years as development director and deputy director for the Region A Partnership for Children. He also previously served as Chair of the Fontana Regional Library, and he served for eight years on the Board of the Jackson County Public Library. He also served for 11 years and the Carolina Mountain Trust for Children and Youth. He previously served on the Boards of Jackson County Community Health Link and Healthy Carolinians, Inc. Davidson earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Alabama and a Juris Doctor from the Birmingham School of Law. He was a long time active member of the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association prior to moving to North Carolina. He and his wife Kathy live in the Yellow Mountain area near Lake Glenville. His current term expires June 30, 2022.
