Medical Assisting Accreditation

ACCREDITATION
The Southwestern Community College’s Associate Degree Medical Assisting program is accredited by the commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education 
Review Board (MAERB).

Graduates of the 2-year Associate Degree Program may take the national AAMA certification examination to become a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA). The examination is offered online at various testing centers. Scheduling information may be obtained from the AAMA website at www.aama-ntl.org

ACHIEVEMENT & OUTCOMES:
For the most recent reporting year (2020), SCC's Medical Assisting program has reported the following achievement and outcome percentages for 2018:
 

  1. The Medical Assisting Program has a current retention rate of 80%
  2. The Medical Assisting Program has a current job placement rate of 100%.
  3. The Medical Assisting Program has a current exam pass rate of 71.43%
  4. The Medical Assisting Program has a current graduation satisfaction rate of 100%
     

Exam Passage:
The Medical Assisting program has an exam pass rate of 73.33% average over the past five years.

Job Placement:
For 2018, 100% of the Medical Assisting graduates were working in the field.
