Account Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is my username?
A.  Your username consists of the first initial of your first name, the first four of your last name, and the last four digits of your student id number.  For example, if your name is Sam Smith and your student ID is 0987654 then your username would be ssmit7654.
2What is my password?
A. You will need to setup your password on the first login at and select Option 1
3.  What is my student ID number?   
A.  Your student ID number is a 7 digit number that usually begins with a 0 and is located on your acceptance letter.  If you don't have this information please call the help desk at 828-339-4409.
4.  Where do I setup my password?
A.  You can go to and select Option 1.   Then select a password that is 12 characters and use at least 3 of the following categories: Uppercase, Lowercase, number or special character.
5.  My Account is locked how do I unlock the account
A.  You can go to and select "Unlock your Account"
6. What do I if I Can't login to mySCC?
A.  there is a few thing you can try before contacting the helpdesk
  1.  If you have the mySCC bookmarked in your browser, try going directly to the mySCC portal at and try to log in.  If this works make sure your bookmark is set correctly to  and make sure you do not have anything after the .edu.
  2.  Try logging in to mySCC using a different browser.
  3.  Clear the browser history/cache
  4.  If you are using Safari on an Apple Device, please try using another browser as Safari sometimes does not allow users to login to our mySCC portal.
  5.  If the above steps don't work for you try resetting your password at Option 1.
  6.  If you still can not get your password to work, contacting the helpdesk may be the best option for you.  You can reach us at 828.339.4409 or by submitting a ticket at ticket[at]southwesterncc[dot]edu.  Make sure you include your username, student ID and details of your technical issue so we can find your account and resolve your issue faster.
