Tiffany Henry, Director for Small Business Training at Southwestern Community College, has been honored with the State Small Business Center Director award.

“It is truly an honor to receive this award,” said Henry. “I am very committed to serving small businesses in our area. To be recognized for my efforts means the world to me.”

Anne Shaw, State Director of the Small Business Center Network, felt Henry was the perfect person for this award.

“Tiffany Henry is a standout among her peers,” said Shaw. “From my leadership vantage point, what I find so compelling is that Tiffany Henry always has the best interests of the organization top of mind.  She isn’t trying to win awards; she just wants to do what it takes to make a difference.”

In the five years Henry has been working at SCC, she has received five awards for her work with small businesses in the community, including the Innovation award in 2015 and 2017 for her continued work to support growth in the agriculture industry.

“I am a huge advocate for collaboration and I think I've shown that over my time here at SCC's SBCN,” said Henry. “Whether it's locally, regionally or statewide, I'm always willing to welcome new ideas and partnerships for the benefit of our small business owners. They are the backbone of our local economy.”

Among many of the local businesses Henry has helped over the years, Nicole Owen of Innovation Brewing in Sylva found Henry’s support to be invaluable.

“Tiffany and the Small Business Center have been an incredible resource for us, as a small constantly evolving business,” said Owen. “She has helped to connect us with funding sources as well as get our business plan and financials updated to help secure that funding. We feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful resource in our community that can help us with whatever new challenges pop up along the way."

The Small Business Center Network is an organization of 58 locally operated small-business centers that provide uniquely tailored programs and services to meet the needs of the diverse population of entrepreneurs across the state.
