Adult High School Program

The Adult High School Program (AHS) is a program of study designed for students who left high school before earning a high school diploma and wish to complete the remaining credits at SCC to earn a high school diploma. The adult high school diploma is issued by Southwestern Community College (SCC) in conjunction with the local county public school.

To earn an Adult High School diploma, students must:

  • Submit official transcripts from high schools attended
  • Attend an orientation session
  • Place at or above 9th grade level on a reading and math test
  • Complete a minimum of 22 core and elective credits
  • Complete a minimum of 2 credits at SCC

Each student works individually on the credits needed and progress at his/her own speed until all requirements are met.

There is no fee for registration or for instructional materials.

Minor students (ages 16 or 17) must submit a release from the public school and parental permission is required for enrollment.
