2013 Spring Commencement

SCC held its spring commencement ceremony on Tuesday, May 7 in the Balsam Center Auditorium on the Jackson Campus. The largest graduating class to date—the 349 graduate candidates included 95 from Career Technologies, 110 from Arts and Sciences and 144 from Health Sciences (23 have double majors including one graduate with a quadruple major). Faculty speaker, Deanne Oppermann, chemistry instructor and the NCCCS Excellence in Teaching Award Recipient, gave an inspiring charge to the graduating students. Thom Brooks, SCC vice president for instruction and student services, recognized honor graduates and Don Tomas, SCC president, conferred degrees.
