Q) What motivates you to continue and excel at SCC in spite of circumstances you may face?
A) What motivates me to continue SCC in spite of circumstances I have faced is my strong desire to earn a college degree. This has been a personal goal of mine since I graduated high school in 1997. It has become very important not just for a new career path but to say that I did it on my own. This has been in the making for 14 years and this is my 3rd attempt at earning a degree. To say that I have graduated college would fulfill the greatest dream I have ever had. It will change my life and my children's lives. I want to be that role model my kids need to be successful in their lives. I hope seeing my struggles and my determination to keep pursuing my goals will show them to never give up on any dream they have not just college. I would love to make a difference in someone's life and be the motivation they need to continue to push for what they want just as others have been that encouragement for me. My father was my biggest supporter of this dream. My biggest regret was not finishing school. Whenever I would get discouraged he would say, "This will pass" and he was always right. I just wish he could have lived long enough to see me reach my goal.
Q) What advice would you give to future students who might face similar situations?
A) If I could give future students any advice I would tell them to never give up. Nothing is impossible no matter what situation they are in. Failure is not an option. If it is worth it there is a way and in times of feeling discouraged, "This too will pass."
