Q1) What motivates you to continue and excel at SCC in spite of circumstances you may face?

A1) Just as many other students, I work and go to school. I work a full time job and I am enrolled in school full time also. This is something that I have chosen to do and I look at it as a blessing. I am thankful to have a full time job and also continue my education and work towards a bachelor degree. A big part of my motivation to excel in school is that once I graduate, I will be the first in my family with a college degree. This is something that not only I will be proud of, but my family will be as well. There are plenty of nights where I could set aside my homework but I know that it has to be done in order to achieve my goal of continuing my education and keeping my grades up.

Q2) What advice would you give to future students who might face similar situations?

A2) Going to school and taking any number of classes will take up a lot of time and it is something that you must be dedicated to. There will be days that you will not want to go to class or work on homework, but the work needs to be done. Getting a degree or certificate will take hard work and you will “earn” it. In my opinion, this is one of the most rewarding parts. It will all be worth it. While you are in school enjoy the experience, meeting new people, and making new friends!
