When will faculty and staff begin using Google Mail full time?
We will cut over mail delivery to Google on May 11, 2012.
Will my email address change?
No. You will use the same college provided email address and authentication information you have been using with Groupwise.
How do I learn how to use the functions of Google Mail?
We recommend that you attend one of the training sessions being offered.
Will my information be migrated from Groupwise?
All Groupwise mail and contact information (including archives) will be migrated to Google mail. The data migration has been prioritized so that the most recent data is migrated first. Once this is completed, older data will also be converted. If you use the Groupwise calendar and would like to migrate your calendar information, contact the helpdesk and we will assist you with the process.
What will happen to my Groupwise ‘Cabinet’ and ‘folders?’
The migration tool will convert folders into labels and place all of your messages into these categories automatically.
How will I access my email?
You will access your email with a web browser. Users can also install a set of shortcuts on their desktop to make accessing Google services as easy as double clicking on an icon.
Will this change effect my use of Blackboard?
No. Blackboard will continue to operate normally and any emails sent from within Blackboard should be sent to Google Mail.
Will this change effect any listservs I have subscribed to?
The migration should not effect these types of subscriptions. After the migration, messages should begin to be delivered to Google. There is a chance that Google may identify them as spam but you can easily add an exception to get them delivered.
Can I get notified of new messages?
Yes. Though there are several ways to accomplish this task, we suggest installing the Google Talk application which adds the notification functionality along with the ability to send instant messages. If you need assistance with this please contact the help desk.

Will I still be able to use Groupwise?
After the cutover date, Groupwise will still be accessible in a read only mode for a limited time. Once we have completed migrating all of your data, we will be shutting off access to this server.
Will I still get the daily antispam email?
No. Google has a very strong antispam function built into their service. You will be able to manage spam message much more easily once we are migrated.
