Moodle Tip: Ensure Student Success with Moodle

Moodle Tip of the Week

Ensure Student Success with Moodle

? Question:  What can I do to encourage students to get familiar with Moodle early in the semester so we have fewer technical issues throughout the year?

√ Answer:   We strongly recommend that you assign the Student Moodle Orientation course early in your class. You can do this by making it a census activity (if you are teaching fully online) or make it an assignment for students participating in web-supported or hybrid courses.

How does it work?  Students self-enroll in the course by clicking on the Student Moodle Orientation on the e-Campus page (the main Moodle site), then clicking "Enroll in this course." They complete the course by participating in activities, then taking a quiz. If they receive an 85% or better on the quiz, they will receive a certificate, which they can submit to you as proof of completion. For students who are already comfortable in Moodle, they can skip right to the quiz (no need to go through the rest of the course).
