Automotive program receives national accreditation

2024-03-18

Southwestern Community College’s Automotive Systems Technology program recently received accreditation from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Education Foundation, a non-profit that evaluates and accredits entry-level technician training programs.

Not only did the program receive accreditation, it received the highest level recognized by the ASE Education Foundation: the Master Automobile Service Technology Accreditation.

To receive the accreditation, the program went through an evaluation in areas such as instruction, facilities and equipment and was evaluated based on standards and met requirements in the industry. The accreditation is valid for five years.

“Here at Southwestern, the Automotive program strives to have the most current information for students,” said Automotive program coordinator, David Myers. “We try to keep up-to-date equipment that will help them use what is found in dealerships and repair shops in the area.”

For the accomplishment, the program will receive a plaque insert that recognizes the college and level of accreditation achieved.
