N.C. Sen. Kevin Corbin, N.C. Rep. Karl Gillespie and N.C. Rep. Mike Clampitt recently visited Southwestern Community College’s Jackson Campus in Sylva and formally presented $10 million in funding that will be used to move Holt Library to a planned addition to Oaks Hall. The funding will also support the renovation of the existing library space into a dedicated space for the college’s Workforce Continuing Education division.
Corbin and Gillespie also visited SCC's Public Safety Training Center in Franklin to present another $10 million, which will be used to support the construction of an indoor firing range there.
Following the check presentations, the elected officials participated in a conversation with SCC students and college officials at SCC's Jackson Campus.
