During the fall semester, 15 Southwestern Community College radiography students have begun their clinical rotations at a variety of area hospitals.

On their first set of rotations, these students are working under the direction of radiography professionals and assist in the taking of X-Rays as well as other daily tasks.

All the students are working toward a two-year, associate degree. Upon graduation, they can work in diagnostic x-ray departments or continue to specialty areas like MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), nuclear medicine, sonography, mammography, CT (Computed Tomography), radiation therapy or continue their education and work toward a bachelor’s degree.

“We’ve got an outstanding group of first-year students,” said SCC program coordinator Meg Petty, M.S.R.S., R.T. (R) (N). “They’ll get five semesters of academic and clinical training, and they’re on track to graduate in May of 2017 with all the skills they need to begin a rewarding and prosperous career.”

The radiography program will be accepting applicants for students who wish to start next fall.
