Respiratory students practice their skills in a lab at SCC's Jackson Campus.Over the next few weeks, anyone interested in becoming a healthcare professional can get an up-close look at what it takes to enter a variety of different fields during a series of information sessions at Southwestern Community College.

 

The Health Sciences Division at SCC currently offers education and training for 17 different professions, and most of them accept new students each fall. However, now is the time to start planning ahead to get in next year’s cohort because applications will soon be accepted and considered. 

 

To help individuals explore career paths of interest to them, the following sessions are open to the public. Unless otherwise designated by an asterisk (*), sessions will be held in the Don Tomas Health Sciences Center on SCC’s Jackson Campus:

 

Emergency Medical Science (11:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, Room 122)

 

*Health Information Technology (noon on Sept. 23, Balsam Center Room 321)

 

Medical Assisting (2 p.m. on Oct. 20, Room 302)

 

Occupational Therapy Assistant (2 p.m. on Oct. 16, Room 110)

 

*Opticianry (noon on Oct. 8, Balsam Center Room 330)

 

Physical Therapist Assistant (2 p.m. on Oct. 27, Room 116)

 

Radiography (2 p.m. on Sept. 23, Room 226)
