Graduates of Southwestern Community College’s Human Services Technology program were honored during a pinning ceremony on May 2 at the Jackson Campus in Sylva.

Earning associate degrees this spring are Crissy Choltia of Whittier, Chala Gaither of Franklin, Halie Gillett of Waynesville, Amanda Jenkins of Franklin and Desiree Selby of Cullowhee. Temre Gillig of Franklin, who graduated from the program in December, was also honored.

“The theme for our pinning ceremony this year was ‘Change the World,’” said Lori Clancy, program coordinator at SCC. “I know and believe with all my heart that these graduates will do just that. They will change the world, one client at a time. I am so proud of how hard each of them has worked and grown through our program.”

SCC’s Human Services Technology program prepares students to work in mental health, child care, family services, social services and a wide variety of other agencies. Graduates are also able to transfer to Western Carolina University’s social work program as juniors.
