Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.3 million members. SCC’s is among 1,200 chapters located in the United States, U.S. territories, Canada and Germany.

Members must be enrolled on a full-time basis toward an associate degree, have a grade point average of 3.5 or better for the last two semesters and possess both ethical standards and qualities of citizenship and leadership.

“Fewer than one percent of SCC’s students are accepted into Phi Theta Kappa, so we have a truly elite group of individuals,” said Meg Petty, an SCC faculty member and co-coordinator of Southwestern’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter.
