Phi Theta Kappa recipients honored in ceremony

For the first time in over a decade, Southwestern Community College revived the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and held a ceremony to honor the students on April 28 on the college’s Jackson Campus.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the official honor society for two-year colleges that recognizes students who have completed at least 12 hours of college-level credit in the previous four semesters and have maintained a 3.5 or higher grade point average.

Those honored include: Brooklyn Frizzell of Sylva, Brooke Colvin of Robbinsville, Allison King of Murphy, Heather Triller of Franklin, Jaylyn Field of Longcreek, Harley Stevens of Cullowhee, Avalon Camelo of Franklin, Halley Williams of Robbinsville, Christina Ruelas Rodriguez of Franklin, Jaelyn Lossiah of Cherokee, Sarah Roberts of Sapphire, Cristian Diaz-Knight of Balsam, Kassie Bradley of Scaly Mountain, Jeanette Dills of Bryson City, Marilyn Tollie of Sylva, Elizabeth Hedden of Franklin, Heather Phillips of Sylva, Ixcel Soriano-Aguilar of Franklin, Keisha Lambert of Cherokee, Rieley Nichols of Sylva, Cheyenne Pete of Whittier, Julian Owen of Franklin, Stone Marlowe of Whittier, Luke Ammons of Cullowhee, Avery Ponder ofCanton, Elizabeth Puckett of Franklin and Ragan Holder of Robbinsville.

Members of PTK gain access to certain scholarships, programs and tools that will help them excel in their academic and professional goals.
