SCC’s Advertising & Graphic Design Annual Portfolio Show

Students of the SCC Advertising & Graphic Design (ADG) program recently presented their work at the annual ADG Portfolio Show.  Many of these students graduated this spring and will use these portfolios in their job searches. In attendance were SCC faculty and staff, parents, and potential employers.

The Portfolio Show not only showcases the impressive work of the graduating students and launches their networking with prospective employers, but also reflects the success of the SCC Advertising & Graphic Design program.

As part of this intensive two-year program, students will be trained in the development of concept and design for promotional materials such as newspaper and magazine advertisements, posters, folders, letterheads, corporate symbols, brochures, booklets, preparation of art for printing, lettering and typography, photography, and electronic media. Students are assigned projects from local clients, as well as are required to participate in a co-op internship, which provides real-world experience to help prepare students to enter a professional work setting.

The presentation was comprised of 10 students’ work and viewed by a number of industry professionals as well as evaluated by the ADG Advisory Board to ensure that the curriculum reflects current industry standards.
“Our graduates are consistently hired by local and regional industry professionals looking for outstanding talent to represent the brand and image of their company,” said Bob Keeling, ADG Program Coordinator/Instructor.
The ADG curriculum is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills necessary for employment in the graphic design profession, which emphasizes design, advertising, illustration, and digital and multimedia preparation of printed and electronic promotional materials.
