Southwestern Community College’s Small Business Center is hosting EmpowHer Jackson, a women’s breakfast from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on May 13 in the Burrell Conference room on SCC’s Jackson Campus. The free event is designed to bring together women from across Jackson County in a welcoming and supportive environment focused on connection, growth and empowerment.

Aspiring entrepreneurs, business owners, and community leaders will have the meaningful opportunity to celebrate one another by sharing stories, exchanging strategies to lead and succeed, lifting each other up and building lasting connections.

The keynote speaker, Annette Clapsaddle, author of the first novel published by an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, will kick off the breakfast by sharing her inspirational journey to success. The event will also feature a  panel discussion with three prominent women from the Jackson County community and free professional headshots for all attendees.

"EmpowHer Jackson is about more than a single event—it’s about creating space for women to connect, learn and see what’s possible for themselves and their businesses,” said Marne Harris, Small Business Center Director at SCC. “At the Small Business Center, we’re proud to support and invest in the growth, confidence and success of the women who are so vital to our local economy every day.”

This event is in collaboration with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, Town of Sylva, WCU College of Business, Jackson County Economic Development, Mountain West Partnership, and State Farm Insurance (Patricia Bryson-Wink). EmpowHer Jackson is sponsored by Platinum sponsor Western Carolina University College of Business; Gold sponsor tenBiz, inc.; and Silver sponsors Nantahala Bank, Edward Jones with both Latisha Perkins and Julie Lucas, and Stanberry Insurance. In addition, this event is supported by several bronze sponsors that will be featured at the event.
