Six students were honored during a pinning ceremony for SCC’s therapeutic massage program on May 4 at the Jackson Campus.

Therapeutic massage is about more than temporary pain relief.

When properly implemented, it’s proven to assist in the healing process.

Five people who now understand that better than most were honored during a pinning ceremony for Southwestern Community College’s therapeutic massage program on May 4 at the Jackson Campus.

All five graduates completed two semesters of classroom and clinical training and are now eligible to take the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam.
Recent graduates of SCC’s program are working in local spas, chiropractor offices, gyms, have opened their own private practices or have continued their education at SCC.

“I’m very proud of all these graduates,” instructor Jenny Burgess said. “They adapted to several transitions, including moving our on-campus clinic to a new location due to construction, but it never affected their passion for learning. I have no doubt every one of them will succeed as they begin working in this field – or as they continue their educational pursuits.”
